Propeller use the following core technologies to produce high-powered interactive web applications and web sites:

• PHP – our choice of server-side scripting language currently used by over 70 million websites worldwide.
• MySQL – The world’s most popular open-source database. Powerful yet versatile enough for almost any type of web application
• Microsoft SQL Server – Slightly more powerful than MySQL and suited to certain projects
• AJAX – a combination of dynamic XHTML, JavaScript and CSS which allows us to give an application virtual state e.g. no need to return to the server every time an action is performed
• Adobe Flash/Actionscript – combined with PHP and MySQL these technologies create rich, interactive applications with emphasis on user interaction.

Propeller have been using the methodologies recently coined as “Web 2.0” for the past few years. Web 2.0 methodology gives far more power to the end-user. For example, manipulating the web page they are viewing in real-time, actively contributing content to a website and incorporating third-party objects/data feeds.

All of our applications/web sites are coded to W3C standards, are cross-browser compatible and are search engine optimized. We use URL re-writers to improve the “Friendliness” of our web pages and accessibility issues are always considered

The servers we run are Windows 2003 using IIS 6.0 as the server software and running SMTP locally. As standard, PHP (including all libraries), ASP, MySQL and an ISAPI URL rewrite module are installed.
