Up to £650 billion of public and private sector money will be spent on UK priority infrastructure projects over the next 10 years, according to plans published by the government.
The Infrastructure and Projects Authority (IPA) has published the National Infrastructure and Construction Pipeline 2021 and Transforming Infrastructure Performance: Roadmap to 2030, both of which set out the planned pipeline of infrastructure investment.
The 33-page ‘Pipeline’ document outlines specific financial and commercial details such as:
- £650bn of projected public and private investment over the next 10 years
- £200bn to be invested by 2024/25
- Supporting 425,000 jobs annually on average between 2021/22 and 2024/25
- Up to £31bn of planned procurement over the next year
By contrast, and as context for these impressive figures, the ‘Roadmap’ focuses on broader key themes of improved outcomes for people and nature, place-based regeneration, retrofitting existing buildings to achieve net zero emissions and optimising performance.
Propeller’s operations director Joe Stafford observes “This Roadmap places high value on the use of digital technology, innovation, data and information management to improve construction systems. Efficient construction processes enhanced by technology will be at the heart of successful infrastructure delivery, so I’m confident that software like our EasySmartForms app and EasyBOP platform can play their part.”
He continues “Its quite timely that we’ve just added more enhanced AI features to EasyPQQ, our cloud-based bid management software. These will really help construction firms accelerate their ability to compete for multiple infrastructure tenders.”
